This message is intended only for patients that have Cigna Insurance.

Dear to whom it may concern,

In October, there was a text/email sent to inform you that we made the difficult decision to no longer be “in-network” with Cigna fees. We have had ongoing negotiations, however, we were unable to come to an agreement and we were left with little choice, but to go “out of network”. Insurance can be complicated to explain, but we realize there are some misconceptions about what out of network means and we will try to explain as simply as possible how that affects your Cigna policy with our office.

  1. Although we are “out of network” with Cigna PPO Advantage we will still be ” in-network ” some Cigna policies that are under a third-party fee schedule, which simply means some policies may be paid by another company we are in-network with.  If we are “in-network” with that 3rd party company then you will still receive in-network benefits.  As of January 1st, we will have access to all various third party carriers and will be able to update your benefits and let you know who will be your carrier upon request.
  1. Our insurance specialists will still verify all Cigna insurance policies and will update your account to reflect the updated fees you have prior to a scheduled appointment. If you would like us to check your new fees we will need at least 24-48 hours to update your account.
  1. For policies that do not have a third-party carrier, we will update your account to reflect “out of network” fees. We will not know what those fees are until we check your policy and we will notify you of the changes prior to a scheduled appointment. Any information regarding your policy that you need right away can also be accessed directly from Cigna by calling the 1 800 number on the back of your insurance card.

In conclusion, if you do decide to cancel your appointment with us please give us at least 24 hours’ notice. Please know that we are trying our best to make this a smooth transition. Thank you for your continued support over the years and that we will keep you informed if we have any changes that allow us to go back “in-network with Cigna”.
